Revolution was designed for use as a CMS or static website, many people do not realise the power of wordpress as a static website.

There are many styles and modifications of the Revolution theme but today I shall review only the basic Revolution theme, not all of the others. The Revolution themes were created by Brian Gardner, a well respected wordpress designer. There are three different styles for the Revolution theme, these are white, black and blue.

The header is very basic and does what it needs to do. I like the magnifying glass next to the search as it reminds people that you can search the site. The navigation is very sleek and has drop down menus that look very good. Many people struggle to find templates with drop down menus that work well, this one works perfectly.

The homepage is very well structured with four sections of content and a section for links to recent posts. Most of the other pages has a sidebar which fits neatly into the content, however the actual homepage does not include a sidebar. This is probably becase it was designed to work as a website opposed to a blog. I think that the pictures of the demo really help to give the theme a sense of style, but I wonder what it would look like with different pictures.

The footer is very basic and simple, which is good as there is no need for a big stylish footer which does not fit the theme so this works very well as it follows the same style of the rest of the theme.

The only way in which I can see the theme may need improving is that the RSS icon is very small so if the user of the theme is interested in getting subscribers then placing the RSS icon in a better place and increasing the size is vital, a good place may be next to the search box in the same style as the magnifying glass.

All in all this is a very good theme which has many uses. It is very good to see a theme created for use as a static website. For just $59.95 you really cannot go wrong.
